The dedication or inauguration day of the temple is considered its birthday and the celebration always takes place on the same day if the, Wuku or 210 day calendar is used, a new moon system is used for calculation, then the celebration is always held on a new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ.
Simple guidance when attending a Temple Ceremony: Always wear a sarong and sash, do not walk in front of people when they are praying, do not use flash or point your camera at the priests face, never sit higher than the priest, the offerings and/or people praying, during cremation ceremonies, do not get in the way of attendees, howerver perfect that photographic moment might be and women are not allowed to enter temples during their menstruation.
