Known as Wae Rebo, this ancient settlement, 1200 meters above sea level, surrounded by green hills. Its isolated location gives the village a quiet, mystical aura that you won’t find anywhere else.

The heart of Wae Rebo is a seven iconic conical houses, called Mbaru Niang. These five-story structures are architectural wonders, with each level serving a specific purpose:

Lutur: The ground floor for living and sleeping.
Lobo: For food and seed storage.
Hekang Kode: The top levels dedicated to ancestor worship.

Built entirely from local wood, bamboo, and thatched palm fiber roofs, these houses are a testament to living history.

The Experience
The journey starts with a 2 to 3-hour trek from Denge Village. The trail is challenging but rewards you with stunning views at every turn. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by the village chief with the Waelu ceremony, an ancient tradition to greet visitors.

While you're there, don’t miss out on their famous organic coffee. There’s nothing quite like sipping a hot cup of local brew in the foggy morning mist. Since there is no cell service or internet, Wae Rebo is the ultimate destination for a digital detox.

2 Days 1 Night Tour Package

Day 1: The Ascent

08:00: Hotel pickup and a 3-4 hour drive toward the mountains.
Midday: Rest at Denge Village before starting the 2-hour trek.
Afternoon: Arrive at Wae Rebo for the Welcome Ceremony.
Evening: Enjoy traditional coffee, explore the village, and have a communal dinner.
Overnight: Sleep inside a genuine Mbaru Niang traditional house.

Day 2: Sunrise & Spider Webs

Morning: Early coffee and sunrise views, followed by breakfast with the locals.
Late Morning: Trek back down to Denge Village.
Afternoon: Visit the unique Spider Web Rice Fields (Cancar) and an optional stop at Todo Traditional Village.
18:00: Arrive back in Labuan Bajo.
