Fishing in Bali Using a Traditional Boat

The traditional fishing boat in Balinese culture is called a Jukung, used primarily for coral or bottom fishing in Bali

Along the beaches of Bali, especially in fishing villages like Amed, Padang Bai, Kusamba, Sanur, Benoa, Tanjung Benoa, and as far north as Lovina Beach, you'll find the iconic traditional fishing boat known as the Jukung. These boats are specifically designed for fishing and are commonly used for coral or bottom fishing techniques. Nowadays, many Jukungs are equipped with one or two motors to enhance productivity.

Fishermen typically rely on their experience rather than modern technology such as GPS or fish finders to locate fishing spots. Some Balinese fishermen also consider auspicious days and times for fishing based on the Balinese calendar or predictions from village elders.

Unlike expert fishing, where there are times with no catch, this fun fishing experience offers you a higher chance to catch many fish and enjoy cooking them at a local restaurant.

Sanur and Nusa Dua area

This program uses a motorized Jukung or traditional boat, exploring locations from Sanur to Nusa Dua and employing coral or bottom fishing techniques. All necessary equipment is provided, so there's no need for you to bring anything. We'll pick you up from your hotel around 6:30 am (based on request), take you to our office in Sanur to fit the fishing gear, and then head to the beach to meet our experienced fishing crew, who will be ready with the boat and additional equipment.

We also offer refreshments and a lunch box customized to your preferences, such as sandwiches, fried noodles, or fried rice.
